Review policy
What we publish, what we hold, and why. Short, because it should be.
Who can write a review
A resident, client or participant, or a family member or legal representative of one. Before a review is published we confirm that relationship, usually by a short reply to the email or phone number given, and sometimes by asking the provider to confirm the person was served (never what was said). Staff, former staff, competitors and anyone paid to write may not.
What we hold, and what we never hold
We hold a review only if we could not confirm the relationship, if it names a person's health or private details, or if it is abusive or threatening. We never hold, delay or bury a review because of its rating or its tone toward the provider. Every listing shows the number of reviews received, the number published, and the reason for each one held.
Order and editing
Newest first, always. We do not edit reviews except to remove a name or a health detail, and we mark where we did. The provider can reply once, in public, under the review. The provider cannot edit, hide or remove a review, and neither can we at a provider's request.
No solicitation, no rewards
We do not ask for reviews on behalf of any provider. A provider may tell clients that reviews exist, but may not offer anything for one, ask only satisfied clients, or write reviews for clients. A provider found doing this loses the ability to reply for a year, and we say so on the listing.
If you disagree with a decision
Write to hello@carebegins.com. A different person reads the appeal. Decisions and reasons are logged.
This policy is written to meet the Federal Trade Commission's 2024 rule on consumer reviews, which bars fake reviews, bought reviews and suppressing reviews by rating. Counsel review: [pending, David Hayes].
